For anybody that wasn't already aware of the settlement, you can read all about it on my blog at http://ecstasytheatre.com/settlement
I have been trying to reach out to all the former dancers for the past 3 months. As of Friday, only 20% of current and former dancers have filed claims. I am hoping this website can help get the word out to dancers that have moved on to other clubs and are unaware that money is owed to them. Dancers that worked at E between August 2004 and October 2011 are eligible to receive a settlement payment. Even if a dancer only worked like 6 months, her claim would be worth about $500. Many girls are owed several thousand dollars.
Any former Ecstasy dancer can contact me here or by email or on my blog and I will help you file a claim. But hurry, only one week left to file.
I posted this under Industry Watch because these lawsuits are becoming common now. Spearmint Rhino recently settled a similar suit for $20 million. Even though that's a much larger figure, after attorney fees and you divide up the sum among thousands of former SR dancers, I doubt any girl will get several thousand dollars.
Both Ecstasy and SR are agreeing to pay dancers minimum wage and comply with all State labor laws. This new trend can really change the industry. I'm not saying the change will be all good or all bad, but it will definitely change things. The same attorneys handled the suits agains Ecstasy and SR and I'm sure they won't stop there. One of them has a website looking for more dancers to file lawsuits. http://exoticdancerrights.com
