Bottom Line was a positive one. Upon arrival at approximately 8 pm, there were four dancers: Mya, Mandie, Emily, and June. Lots of customers, but most of them were hoodlum looking guys who did not get laps, or tip and seemed more interested in the World Series game. BTW, they have nice TVs here post remodel, so I enjoyed watching the dancers and game at the same time too. Mya is white, tall and what we used to call leggy, and has surgically enhanced boobs. Not bad looking, and very seductive when soliciting for a dance set. Although the tall and boobage part of her wasn't my thing, I decided to try. Verdict was not too bad, sexy grind, decent experience. June is not tall short fat or thin. Did not try her or even want to. Not a knock on her because she was not bad looking or anything, but was not exactly my type and I already did a token not my type dance (see Mya). White. Emily is white, and a tall thin blonde with moderate tattoos and naturally small boobs and one of the best strip club asses to grace SRO in quite some time. Very sexy looking, she kept busy all night and although I really wanted to try a dance set, she was not available when I was. Bad timing but I will try again. Mandie is white, a little older dancer. Very articulate. Nice larger sized butt and natural boobs. She gave a very sexy dance performance in VIP. Enjoyable to me, a fortysomething guy, maybe not for the twenty year olds hanging out just on the fringe of the tip rail. At around 9 pm, more dancers came in. Noteworthy to me was Princess, who danced here in late summer 2007, and is now back. Very petite, very pretty, and a great VIP session. She used to have orthodontia,now just has a killer smile. Very smart, and I think she is of Middle Eastern descent. No upcounts, no overly skanky dancers, minimal buy the lady a drink prattle. If all SRO experiences were as good as this one, it would be one of the best clubs in SRO. As they say on TV, individual results may vary. Any club is at its best when there are a wide range of body types and styles available. I have been to this club when conditions like Safir mentions are in place and it held no interest to me. Happily, the SRO has a lot of different dancer types, just not on Monday apparently. Sadly, I recently visited after not coming here for a few months and the hustle factor at SRO still rates among SOCAL's highest. Not to say that it is a total waste of time to come here. It is possible to have a good time here and not get ripped off, but Caveat Emptor -- Let the Buyer Beware. A few Common Red flags indicating a potential upcount/hustle/rip-off: Excessive bragging to you about how great the nude VIP session will be Excessive and insincere sounding flattery about your looks Lap sitting from someone who does not know you while you are sitting in the main stage room and they are hustling dances Girls who have short VIP sessions with many customers Dancer/bouncer/patron disagreements at the bar where the dancer and bouncer are the same and only the customer changes Date: 10/21/2009 4:31pm Name: safir (102) Subject: Roundup at the Rhino If you like your dancers thick thighed and big bootied, Monday is definitely your night to head for SRO! Last Monday, SRO had one reed thin black dancer, two normally-proportioned blondish dancers, and the rest were--Rhinos! I heard one customer actually disappeared when a hard-grinding dancer pounded him in between two cushions in VIP. All that could be heard was a muffled "help!" as he went in. What a night! So it is easy for the unaware to get surprised by the total number of songs they count to what you perceive. Another tactic was to ask you to remain seated while they get dressed slowly enough to have it count as another song. Let the buyer beware. Not all girls here did the upcount on me. but enough did that I got sick of the BS and really have stayed away from this place lately. I guess not much has changed. Stopped by the SRO on my way home from work and was suprised to see the club completely remodeled. Stage looks nice and the club looks updated and cleaner. I had some expectation that the newly remodeled Spearmint Rhino Oxnard would spark a review or three. Finding none, I thought that I would jot down a few comments on the club remodel and the girls. The club itself looks much improved with the recent remodel. The stage now is slightly smaller, but has four sided seating rather than the elongated three sided stage with the couch originally there. The carpet is fresh, and the private booths are cleaner and no longer squeak when you are being grinded by aggressive dancers. The bar and restroom remains unchanged. They should have spent dollars on upgraded toilets because they were old looking and some were broken. On to the important part, the girls. When this club opened in the mid 1990's and up until about 2004, this was a place that was home to smoking hot girls who gave good to great lap dances. There has also been a long standing hustle factor organic to the Spearmint Rhino chain, but I did not mind the constant "buy the lady a drink" p rattle or occasional over count when there were a lot of smoking hot girls. The girls here now are not as good looking as before, the mileage is consistent, but the overcount, scam factor is way higher than before. The last five dancers tried pulled one form or another of ripoff (be it a one-two song overcount, an outlandish demand for extra tippage, or the really short song length. I know that the latter is not the fault of the dancers, but it detracted from the experience and made me feel ripped off. Having gone to strip clubs for years, I know when I am being played, and have no illusions about dancers being my friend, etc. But to me, a critical mass of BS has formed around this place, and it is no longer someplace I think of as the first place to visit. I would like to think that there is still some value to going to this place, but there seem to be better values elsewhere in the immediate area (namely in the San Fernando Valley). I live in this area and going here is the most expedient place to visit a club for me, but I see little reason to visit here. SRO loyalists, please respond and let me know where I am wrong and which non-ripoff dancers are worth trying. Note to management, there seems to be a filled quota for slightly overweight tattoo chicks with a biker festish. Try something new...
